Joyful Reunion! 🎉

Today started off with unexpected sickness! Each time I have visited Uganda I have suffered with what my doctor calls ‘traveller’s tummy’ - just the body’s response to all the changes it experiences. However, it didn’t prevent us from carrying on with our plans!

We visited the bank to withdraw money for the Kabale kids school fees and then bid Mali and Brian farewell as we departed for Kabale! Kabale is in the hills at a higher altitude than Mbarara so consequently is a little cooler and is still experiencing rain, though the rainy season is usually over by now.

As we approached home we met one of the children’s mothers at the side of the road roasting corn cobs to sell. It was delightful to see her again!

The children ran towards us as we approached and as I stepped out of the car I was showered with petals! 💕What an amazing experience! I then had to officially open the house by cutting a ribbon to enter! 💕

We spent an amazing evening singing, dancing and playing games. During our evening devotions all the children gave  thanks to God, testifying to his goodness in their lives!

One of the boys told us about how he used to steal and be disobedient to his mother. He told us that God has given him a new heart and now he is obedient to his mother and has left stealing. He wants to do right in God’s sight! He was very emotional and cried! 🥹

Another, was really emotional too!  He told us about how he was going to look for scrap to earn money. (This is how many street kids survive. They collect a kilo of scrap and then sell it for 1000 Ugandan shillings which so himis about 20 pence. For 10p they can buy a portion of food from cafes that are the leftovers from paying customers’ meals.)

However since Ian came alongside him and persisted with him he eventually joined the group and told us that now he has a sponsor and is attending school he has a hope for the future. I was so touched! It’s such a blessing to be part of these children’s lives, seeing them grow in spiritual maturity and seeing how receiving a good education can really transform their lives! 💕

Some of these children still need sponsors so please get in touch if you would like to support in this way. 🙏 You can contact us by emailing us at buildinglivesuk23@gmail.com or by completing the online form on our website https://www.bli-uk.org/
