Our Team.
Building Lives International UK is a partnership between Building Lives International Uganda and supporters in the UK. Building Lives International Uganda is an indigenous non governmental organisation which was formed in 2019 by two former street boys, Brian and Mali. You can read more about their story on the BLI Uganda website: BUILDING LIVES INTERNATIONAL UGANDA (blives.org)
Francis Maliamungu (Mali)
Executive Director (BLI Uganda)
Brian Ainematsiku
Director (BLI Uganda)
Mali and Brian were both primarily raised in an orphanage/home for street children, but fortunately given access to education and opportunity. With a shared interest in giving back to their community, the organisation, the now growing NGO of BUILDING LIVES INTERNATIONAL was founded. As former street kids themselves, they understand the many challenges street children face every day, and are able to offer a unique connection for encouragement, hope, and support for rehabilitation. Their main project includes a home for young boys in an effort to reduce cycles of poverty by providing an education, safe housing, meals, hygiene, clothing, a variety of life skills, mentoring, and attempts to work with families when possible for more home based support.
Arinda Ian
BLI Worker (BLI Uganda - UK projects)
Ian is currently studying Tourism at Kabale University. He loves being out in the field visiting Gorilla Kids Primary School in Ruhija District and encouraging them in the work there. He uses all his spare time to nurture and support the 10 registered children in Kabale, making sure they have everything they need for school, monitoring their progress, visiting them during the term time and encouraging them to continue reading during the holidays. He is full of fun and the children both in Kabale and Ruhija love spending time with him.
